More Screen Time

What do you like to watch on your screen? Movies, sitcoms or comedies? Many people enjoy spending their weekends sitting on sofas or lying in bed, watching their favourite TV or online programmes on their mobile phones or televisions.

Fancy Documentaries?

If you enjoy shows that tell true stories about wildlife, cities or anything people don't know much about, you might love documentaries. These shows are typically informative, unless they poorly researched. However, since documentaries involve a lot of narration, some people find them dull or less engaging. Many enjoy documentaries about animals and plants, but you can also find documentaries about popular destinations, like the White Temple in Chiang Rai, Northern Thailand.

Laughter is The Best Medicine!

Some people, however, that documentaries don't help them relax as much as they would like, so they prefer watching comedies. Comedies are shows that are designed to make you laugh. Normally they are about funny situations except when dealing with serious topics. However, even those serious situations are always presented in a humorous way. Some talented comedians occasionally use dark humour, but, not everyone enjoys it. Perhaps that is why some people think that some comedies are annoying. They say that they make them  little angry and irritated. What about you? Do you consider dark humour offensive or funny?

Show The World Who You Are

Are you talented at something? If so, why not try joining talent show? Talent shows usually have judges who select a winner from many people competing. These shows are generally fun to watch, both for the contestants and the audience. Do you know any talent shows from your favourite TV channel?

Homework Time!

Students usually don't have much time to watch TV or online shows, so they do binge-watching. Binge-watching is when you watch many episodes -individual parts of a season-  in one go. This is typically common with shows that have many seasons (collections of episodes that make up part of a series) and episodes like Game of Thrones. However, some parents don't approve this kind of a hobby as they think that students should invariably spend more time helping with household chores or focusing on their homework. What about your parents? Do they let you to binge-watch?

It's Time To have Fun With My Little Friends

If  binge-watching feels too much for you, why don't you watch cartoons instead? Cartoons are always meant for entertainment, that is amusement or enjoyment. They typically feature animated characters as stars. Have you heard of Tom and Jerry? It is one of the most famous cartoon. Many people find it very entertaining. What's your favourite cartoon show.

Scary is Funny

Some people enjoy watching horror movies. These are generally scary shows usually with bad characters that harm people like vampires or aliens. They usually involve violent actions. Some people find horror films awful. They think that they are very bad and that they should not be watched by children because of the violence associated with them. However, it is important to always keep it in mind that the actions are just works of talented actors- they are not real.

Reality or?

Some reality shows are really showcasing real life situations. Producers, that is people who are in charge of presenting TV shows sometimes manipulate the shows. Manipulating means controlling someone or something unfairly. In fact (actually), some producers employ people who are professional actors to "act" in reality shows. They do this in order to increase the number of viewers. Most of the shows don't show ordinary people. Ordinary people are common people who are not actors. In some cases, these shows are "acted" in advance and then edited afterwards in order to show what the producers want. Editing involves removing some unwanted scenes. In spit of this (even if they do so), many people still find reality shows very entertaining.

AN ANALYSIS OF THE POEM "EVERY STONE THAT TURNS..." BY BVUMA

The poem opens with an air of inner turmoil. The speaker expresses disappointment at the futility of his efforts to find happiness despite his all endeavours. The motif of "every stone that turns" symbolises the chapters, experiences and phases the speaker goes through in life, all of which expose him to danger or unpleasantness.  The poem presents a sense of meaninglessness. Futility is symbolised by "an abstract atlas," representing the intangible weight of unfulfilled aspirations. The speaker feels exposed and vulnerable, as suggested by the "neon ball atop Pearl House," which hints at a precarious, unstable state of existence. The image of "a pair of high-heeled shoes" signifies a figure, possibly Yeukai, walking the empty streets in search of something vital - be it food or emotional fulfilment. The word "pecks" suggests a futile, bird-like effort to find sustenance or help, while the "still streets" emphasise the a...

COMING OF THE DRY SEASON: SHADOWS ON THE WALL

SHADOWS ON THE WALL The story begins with a motif of shadows. This device runs through the story. This establishes a gloomy atmosphere characterised by hopelessness and dejection of the child narrator. It also emphasises the neglect and emptiness the narrator is experiencing. Even in the presence of his parents, the child feels abandoned. The family is so dysfunctional that the child finds solace in the shadows instead of the real parents. The "wall" symbolises a barrier to freedom and happiness. It represents the depressing effects of the narrator's  parents' tempestuous relationship.  The narrator has lost sense of reality after failing to find love and protection from the parents especially from the father who is abusive and callous. The real world exposes the narrator to cruelty and abuse hence the fascination on the shadows.  Through their sitting location in the hut, a huge social distance between the father and the child is reflected. The father is sitting n...
