Superstition The word superstitious is an adjective . It is used to describe a person or a situation where someone believes in supernatural powers that might bring good or bad luck. For example, many Thai people believe that cutting your hair on a Wednesday can bring bad luck. Because of this, many avoid getting haircuts on Wednesdays. These people are superstitious about haircuts. Another example is that some Thai people are also superstitious about people who die in violent accidents; they might believe that if a person dies violently, their spirit could become a ghost in the afterlife. The noun form of this word is superstition , which refers to the actual beliefs that superstitious people hold. For instance, if your friend believes in something that seems strange to you, you might say, "Come on, that's just a superstition ! Nobody can prove that." However, instead of just memorising lists of words, it's important to understand how words are used. This will enable you to use new words naturally. Let's explore some important words as we weave it together. Sensitive (adjective) Sensitive means having the ability to respond to different colours, sounds, or feelings. It can also mean being easily affected by things. For example, some people are more easily affected by sad news than others. If a student in your class is having a tough time, you might say, "Please be careful how you tell the news. She is very sensitive."  Think about art! More Screen Time What do you like to watch on your screen? Movies, sitcoms or comedies? Many people enjoy spending their weekends sitting on sofas or lying in bed, watching their favourite TV or online programmes on their mobile phones or televisions. Fancy Documentaries? If you enjoy shows that tell true stories about wildlife, cities or anything people don't know much about, you might love documentaries. These shows are typically  informative ,   unless  they poorly researched. However, since documentaries involve a lot of narration, some people find them dull or less engaging. My favourite dishes include khao man gai and massaman gai. Roasted chicken is delicious too. I've tried preparing some Thai dishes at home,  but it has been disastrous. They don't taste good.
